The Challenge

Salad Bar already had a strong ordering flow: customers could choose between classic salads and “make your own” options (with a step-based builder for base/toppings/add-ons), add juices, checkout quickly, and track orders end-to-end.


The app even included a membership subscription plan with weekly/bi-weekly/monthly options—great for retention in theory.

But the team faced the most common challenge in food delivery: customers try it once, enjoy it, and then drift. Even with subscriptions available, many users still needed a reason to stay consistent—especially after a busy week, travel, or a break in routine. The team wanted a loyalty layer that could:

Salad Bar launched a branded digital stamp card where customers earn stamps per qualifying order. The goal wasn’t to “give away food”—it was to build a repeat habit around healthy eating. The stamp card was designed to be easy to understand at a glance and quick to complete, so even casual buyers felt progress.

Reward Design That Fits a Healthy Brand (Not Just Discounts)

Instead of pushing constant percentage-off promotions, rewards focused on “healthy-friendly” perks customers actually value, such as: free add-ons, premium topping unlocks, upgrade perks, or a complimentary juice on completion. This approach kept rewards attractive while protecting margins.
